Why certain dishes appear every year
Lunar New Year menus lean on dishes with symbolic meaning: whole fish for abundance, dumplings shaped like ancient gold ingots for wealth, and long noodles left uncut for longevity. Around the holiday, we build a short seasonal menu around these dishes alongside our regular offerings.
What's typically on the seasonal menu
- Whole Crispy Fish — served whole, symbolizing abundance for the year ahead.
- Extra-long noodle dishes, left unbroken to represent a long life.
- A larger dumpling platter than our usual pot sticker order, shaped and folded by hand.
- Nian gao (sweet rice cake), when available, for a sweeter start to the year.
Planning a celebration order
If you're hosting a family gathering around the holiday, call ahead — the whole fish and larger dumpling platters often need a bit more lead time than a standard order. We're also happy to put together a family-style spread sized to your guest count.
A note on timing
Lunar New Year dates shift each year based on the lunar calendar, so check with us directly for that year's exact seasonal menu and dates rather than assuming it lines up with the Western calendar.
